Sony press conference: compensation details and PSN to resume this week

Today Sony held a press conference in Japan to provide an update as to when PSN service will resume as well as answer questions from the press. PlayStation boss, Kaz Hirai took the stage to reveal that PSN service will resume this week.

This press conference was held in the morning in Japan and past midnight here in the States. Full translation is scarce at this time, but I believe we have captured majority of the points here.

According to Sony, the company detected an external intrusion April 19th, and brought down PSN service worldwide on April 20th. The company brought in three security firms in the States to conduct full analysis of the breach. The cyber-attack occurred against the PSN servers in the US, located in San Diego, California. A notification was sent out to PSN users once it was revealed that the database was breached.
